Back in 1985, he, along with three others, formed the legendary “Fabulous 4 of Beaujolais,” championing a commitment to organic practices that eschew chemical fertilisers and pesticides.
In the heart of this winemaking haven, some of the vines under Charly’s care have gracefully stood the test of time, with roots delving over 70 years into the soil to extract minerals from the bedrock, contributing to the creation of a structurally refined wine.
At the hands of Charly, Gamay grapes are meticulously harvested at full ripeness, and the winemaking process unfolds through carbonic fermentation. The weight of the grapes initiates a gentle crush, and their fermentation commences naturally with the indigenous yeast present on the grape skins.
