Cotes du Jura vin Jaune

Côtes du Jura Vin Jaune (Yellow Wine) is a unique wine produced in the Jura wine region of eastern France. It is made from the Savagnin grape variety and is aged under a special film of yeast called “voile” for at least six years and three months in oak barrels. This ageing process gives the wine a distinct nutty and oxidative character, similar to Sherry, and it is said to be able to age for decades. Vin Jaune is often served with traditional Jura dishes such as Comté cheese and Jura sausages. It is also a great pairing with foie gras, and seafood dishes. Vin Jaune is considered a rare and unique wine, and it is protected by the AOC “Vin Jaune des Côtes du Jura” which ensures that it is made according to traditional methods and meets certain quality standards.
